Gugulethu Sophie Mbatha, also called Gugu is a British stage and film actress. Her fame was boosted by appearing on the BBC's Doctor Who', a British science fiction television series. Handler began appearing on various other programs, including Weekends at D.L., The Bernie Mac Show, The Practice and My Wife and Kids. Handler started working on The Tonight Show as a correspondent. Handler made her breakthrough in 2006, as she took over hosting of E! called The Chelsea Handler show. The show ran for 2 seasons. Handler appeared on the Comedy Central Hour Stand-Up Comedy Tour on American soil the year after. VH1, Comedy Central Premium Blend, HBO and Comedy Central have all aired her stand-up show. In 2010, she was tapped as host of the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. She became only the second female host of the VMAs following Roseanne Bar.
