Mary McDonnell

 

Mary Eileen McDonnell, born April 28th, 1952 is an American actress who has appeared on stage, TV, and film. Her role in Dances with Wolves, Stands With A Fist and Passion Fish earned her Academy Award nominations. McDonnell is most well-known for her role as First Lady Marilyn Whitmore in Independence Day and President Laura Roslin on Battlestar Galactica. McDonnell was a character in Captain Sharon Raydor on seasons 5-7 of TNT's show The Closer. She also was a part of Major Crimes, the spin-off series that airs on TNT's network, as the Commander Sharon Raydor.
